For me, it's very difficult to "disconnect"... I'm one of those people who doesn't mind always working because I love what I do. But I also know that it takes effort to avoid burnout . And of course, the importance of separating personal time from work time.
*Reminder to myself: if possible, avoid working in the areas of the house that I associate with rest and relaxation.
I've put together 7 little rituals to help you rest on Sundays, so you can feel truly relaxed and recharged!
"Balance is achieved through diet, lifestyle, self-care, state of mind, and the use of medicinal plants."
Waking up with the sun | Aligning your wake-up time with the sun's natural rhythm supports the body's circadian rhythm and promotes vitality and energy.
MEDITATION Starting the day with meditation (even if only for five minutes) cultivates mindfulness , reduces stress, and promotes mental clarity and emotional balance. I know it sounds a bit redundant, but I guarantee it makes all the difference! Even if it's just looking at small good things that happened during the week and reflecting on them a little. Writing about what we would like to happen – or making a to-do list to start the week well – also works.
scrape the tongue Tongue scraping helps remove toxins that accumulate on the tongue overnight and promotes overall detoxification. You can see more here .
SKIN CARE Establishing a simple daily skincare routine that you can follow morning and night is very important. You can see my routine here. Enjoying it being Sunday... Apply this mask, your skin will thank you! Mine "soaks up" all the benefits of honey and açaí, and leaves my skin regenerated, nourished, and SUPER soft. I regret not remembering to apply it more often during the week because, besides making me feel super relaxed, I don't know if it's because I still find it funny to apply a "honey paste that smells so good you want to eat it" to my face. Then leave it on for 15/20 minutes and rinse with warm water. This one!! It costs nothing and is totally worth it, I promise!
BREATHING EXERCISES Did you know that deep breathing is scientifically proven to help calm the nervous system? I love practicing breathing exercises during my skincare routine, mainly because during the week, who remembers to breathe deeply? Conscious and deep breathing. One of the magic breathing techniques I use is the 4-4-8 method: inhale counting to four, hold your breath counting to four, and exhale for eight counts. Repeat several times until you feel calmer and less anxious. This video helps to understand the breathing I'm talking about.
FACIAL MASSAGE Incorporate a facial massage, any kind. Always paired with a serum, it promotes lymphatic drainage, stimulates circulation, and tones/sculpts the face. In this case, I'm specifically referring to Gua Sha massage . This Traditional Chinese Medicine practice is highly rejuvenating! It helps to instantly reduce tension and puffiness, while enhancing the skin's natural radiance.
You can watch this "vintage MPL" video that explains how to use Gua Sha .
PRACTICE GRATITUDE Recognizing and appreciating all the good things that happen to us in life promotes a positive state of mind, relieves anxiety, reduces stress, and increases happiness. Therefore, however "corny" it may seem, it is truly very important to be grateful for all the good things that life brings us.
