SUN! That's probably all you want in the coming months – and rightly so. It's essential for vitamin D synthesis and for stimulating serotonin production, and even for alleviating some skin conditions like eczema, psoriasis, and acne . But, like everything in life, the dose makes the poison, and we know that sun exposure also has its downsides, one of which is skin aging and the appearance of hyperpigmentation .
How do sunspots form?
Excessive sun exposure causes the body to produce more melanin, the compound that, in varying concentrations in the body, creates our skin tone. It's a defense mechanism of our body, attempting to repair sun damage.
The parts of the body most susceptible to sunspots are the face, shoulders, neck, arms, back, and hands – the areas most exposed daily, even when we don't spend an entire afternoon in the sun. Our level of unprotected sun exposure will determine if, when, and how many of these spots will appear.
There are some effective natural ingredients in the prevention and treatment of hyperpigmentation:
Aloe vera - this plant contains aloin and aloesin, botanical actives that reduce hyperpigmentation. The sensation on the skin is highly refreshing and soothing, also ideal for relieving sunburned or sensitive skin after sun exposure.
Vitamin C - this powerful antioxidant offers UVA and UVB protection, so we should look for it, both in the ingredients of our beauty products and in our diet.
Vitamin E - essential for strong and healthy skin, hair, and nails. It moisturizes, protects the skin from photosensitivity, acts as a healing agent, and relieves symptoms of injuries and burns.
Green tea - rich in antioxidants, more specifically polyphenols, protects cells from damage caused by UV radiation.

Beauty products to combat sunspots
Face
The first step in protecting against dark spots is sun protection, to prevent the body from producing excess melanin, which will later result in dark spots. Therefore, it's important to use a serum or sunscreen stick with an SPF appropriate for your skin tone , even during the autumn/winter months.
Radiant line
Essence , serum , and cream – a complete treatment to prevent and reduce hyperpigmentation. The essence is aloe vera , which we have already seen to be effective in treating sunspots; the cream and serum are packed with Vitamin C , in ingredients such as papaya oil, passion fruit, and citrus fruits, and contain carrot and turmeric extracts , ingredients that protect the skin from the sun. In addition, they contain bakuchiol , the natural alternative to retinol, for firmer, plumper skin without the common adverse reactions of retinol.
For gentle exfoliation and a boost of hydration, with antioxidant ingredients that regenerate the skin and protect against sun damage. Honey, açaí, passion fruit oil , and rose powder are some of the key ingredients that will brighten the complexion, combat hyperpigmentation, and delay signs of aging.
A must-do! Hydration from the inside out with rose water as the main ingredient and a touch of silica, an essential mineral for collagen regeneration. They stimulate skin elasticity and radiance from within, maintain an even complexion , and act as a natural anti-inflammatory. 🏽
Body
Just like with the face, we shouldn't neglect sun protection for the body. Even if you're not going to the beach, a simple walk in the sun can end the day with sunburn on your shoulders, chest, or arms. When repeated, sun damage will appear on the skin sooner or later. It's important that you protect yourself with your favorite sunscreen (mineral, that's our advice).
Maximum hydration - Pure Sun and Sea Oil Balm
It is essential to replenish skin hydration, especially after sun exposure and seawater/pool water. During the summer months, we recommend the Pure Sun Balm , rich in regenerating and protective botanical actives, both to prepare the skin for the sun and to soothe it after sun exposure. If you prefer an oil, then without a doubt the Sea oil , rich in Vitamin C and Vitamin E , and with algae extracts for a boost of vitamins.
Exfoliation - Awakens , Stimulates and Shines
Exfoliation is super important in the summer , as it removes dead cells and superficial hyperpigmentation, renewing the epidermis . In addition, it removes accumulated residue and promotes more luminosity and radiance. It not only improves the appearance of the skin but also helps maintain a more beautiful and lasting tan. As for the exfoliator, choose your favorite scent, as they all contain effective natural ingredients for anti-blemish care: the Awaken , with coffee and kakadu plum, antioxidant ingredients highly rich in Vitamin C; the Stimulate , with matcha , the purest green tea , and citrus fruits for a Vitamin C boost ; and the Shine , with its moisturizing and anti-inflammatory properties , perfect for the most delicate skin.
