From a certain age it's inevitable: wrinkles start to appear. They can be fine lines or more obvious wrinkles, and both are linked to ageing. So the first thing to remember is this: skin ageing is a natural process and we all go through it. Accepting what is natural, however, does not mean surrendering. There's a lot we can do, starting with understanding the process.
From the age of 25, this process begins, and from the age of 45 it becomes more marked, with the signs of ageing becoming more evident, such as spots, lack of radiance, loss of firmness and elasticity and, of course, the dreaded wrinkles. It's natural, it affects everyone, and although it's impossible to prevent ageing, there's a lot we can do to mitigate its effects and achieve beautiful, healthy skin at any age.
What causes skin ageing?
Well, first of all, and quite obviously: age! As we get older, the process of cell regeneration slows down and the skin becomes drier and loses elasticity. And if we can't do anything about the passage of time, there are many other factors that act on the skin and which we can take action against.
Here are some of the enemies of healthy, beautiful skin, so keep an eye out:
- Exposure to UV radiation: We love the sun, of course, but you have to watch out for excessive sun exposure, and protect your skin. Photoaging is largely responsible for premature skin aging, and using a photoprotective cream at all times is really essential.
- Lack of hydration: Drinking plenty of water is essential to keep the skin hydrated, elastic and free of toxins. Conversely, a lack of water dries out the skin and promotes the appearance of wrinkles.
- Smoking: You may not be aware but tobacco smoke is full of chemicals that damage the skin, and smoking reduces blood oxygenation, and decreases the absorption of nutrients, resulting in dull skin.
- Alcohol: excess alcohol dehydrates the skin, and can also accentuate redness and inflammation.
- Stress: Stress has never done anyone any good, and your skin also notices its negative effect. Excess cortisol can lead to inflammatory processes and the appearance of acne.
- Lack of sleep: Fatigue is reflected on the face, and if we don't rest the skin doesn't have time to regenerate (puffiness and dark circles appear)
- Pollution: can damage skin cells and clog pores, leading to the appearance of pimples. In the same vein, not removing make-up properly will also cause premature ageing, as the skin needs to be clean in order to breathe.
What care should I take?
Now that you know the causes, you can act on them by adopting a consistent routine, as simple as possible and suited to your lifestyle.
The first step, common to all ages and skin types, is cleansing. And you can't miss it, morning and night. Clean skin is the foundation of beautiful skin, so we can't falter here. Our suggestion is cleansing oils and make-up removers - Jasmine or Camellia, the latter for more sensitive skin - the most natural way to cleanse the face, remove make-up and deeply moisturize, providing a clean, hydrated, healthy and youthful appearance. For a complete ritual, try the jasmine cleansing kit, which combines the wonderful oil with a 100% cotton towel to gently and deeply cleanse your face.
After cleansing, the skin is ready to receive other types of care, such as toning and moisturizing. To this end, we have developed our Revitaliza anti-ageing line, formulated with vitamins and natural antioxidants to stimulate elasticity, moisturize and redensify the skin, visibly reducing the effects of ageing. Start with Revitaliza essencewith botanical extracts of Rosa Alba and Vanilla, which prepares the skin to receive moisture and gain radiance, helping to reduce pores, achieving more even and smooth skin. Then apply the powerful Revitalizing SerumSerum, a concentrate of vitamin C and antioxidants with an incredible texture, followed by the Revitalize moisturizing creamrich in vitamin C, A and enzymes, and specially formulated to boost collagen and fill in wrinkles. With these three magnificent products in the Revitaliza Kit, your skin will gain firmness, elasticity and energy.
What else can I do?
If there's one area of the face that deserves special care, it's the eyes. Especially for the most sensitive skin in this area, we have developed the Effective Serumwith a natural lifting effect and formulated with antioxidant-rich essential oils to reduce dark circles and puffiness and smooth the eyelids.
Another routine that can really help to reduce wrinkles is a massage with Gua Sha Mushroom. This ancient technique works the muscles and skin to stimulate firmness and elasticity. It also provides lymphatic drainage, which will help a lot with puffiness and swelling.
And if, in addition to all this pampering and care, you want to give your skin a boost from the inside, try adding a few beauty drops to your water (hydrate, hydrate!) to nourish the skin deeply, boosting radiance and elasticity, while stimulating collagen production and regeneration.
