De Dentro Para Fora: Marie Perestrelo

From the Inside Out: Marie Perestrelo

Marie was born in Rio de Janeiro, but she is Portuguese with a Carioca soul. Her passion for fashion gave her her first steps in professional life, leading her to work in Paris with Christophe Lemaire and in New York at Elite Model Look. In Portugal, she worked in the fashion department of Elle magazine , was at the Arranca Corações agency working on brand communication, and was the communications director for Osklen for five years.

But her vision always extended far beyond fashion. Her love for Lisbon and the city's vibrant rhythm led her to immerse herself in the world of music, art, and lifestyle, closely following new trends and cultural movements. In 2009, she launched MARIE – PR & Brand Consulting, where she began working with lifestyle brands and organizing events such as Outjazz. Later, she led the Lifestyle department at M Public Relations and, in 2019, reopened MARIE PR, where she now manages an incredible team and renowned clients.

A mother of three – she became a mother in three different decades, at 26, 30, and 40 – her life is a true mix of family, work, and many happy encounters. Her favorite activities? Having lunch with family, meeting up with friends, dancing, and of course, laughing a lot!

One object: vases, I love them in all colors and shapes.

Favorite place in the world: my home.

TO CREATE

Who and what inspires you? All the people I love, those who make me think and laugh.

What do you still need to create? A lot. But sometimes the rush of daily life and lack of time make time stand still. Even so, creation never runs out. The more I create, the more I want to create—it's almost like a vital need, a natural impulse. Inspiration is everywhere: in an unexpected conversation, on a trip, in a seemingly banal detail. The challenge is to transform these small sparks into something bigger, to give them form, purpose, and impact.

How to maintain creativity? By taking risks. Daring without fear of failure. Exploring new paths, experimenting without hesitation. Discovering, reinventing, and trying again, because each experience is unique, even if it's not the first time. Freeing ourselves from the judgment of others and exchanging the pursuit of perfection for authenticity. And all with great calm... I truly believe that nothing is by chance.

TO LIVE

First thing I do when I wake up: my daughter snuggling into my bed and giving me kisses.

How to relax at the end of the day: on a sofa watching a good movie with Lourenço and my children around.

A place to switch off: close to my family.

Favorite physical exercise: Pilates on machines, personal training with my Marta Baptista Marques, and dancing on a dance floor.

How do you relieve stress? With facial yoga from Verinha at Velvet Elegance and relaxing massages from my dear sister-in-law Maria Madeira Rodrigues (which are the best).

A woman who inspires you: I admire all women, I am a woman surrounded by many women and I celebrate them every day. But of course, my great friends, my mother, and my dear grandmother Mimi were also women I greatly admired.

NOURISH

Your ideal diet is... I try to eat balanced, but the important thing is to eat without guilt. When it's not balanced, it's not worth feeling guilty; you can make up for it later.

What you always have in the fridge: ice water, burrata, and tomatoes.

Dinner-saving recipe: salads with whatever you have in the fridge

Favorite drink: water

Favorite snack: french fries (guilty pleasure)

Favorite restaurants: Many... Tasca Pete with a small group of friends, Marisco na Praça on weekends in Cascais, and Nicolau Cascais for brunch.

Favorite cookbooks: I'm currently reading a lot about Jessie Inchauspé's Goddess Glucose Method , and the Thermomix cookbooks are amazing too... we can be great chefs.

TO CARE

Beauty icon: So many, but I would say my grandmother Mimi.

An essential piece of clothing: I'm addicted to bodysuits.

What's always in my beauty routine: I try to do all my daily skincare routine, but I never skip a good cleanse with a good cleanser and water before bed.

MPL'beauty's favorite product: Best Skin - I love feeling super hydrated on my face and this cream never fails.

How do you feel most beautiful? "Nothing looks as good on you as your own happiness."
