Ah, Gua Sha! You've probably already heard of this powerful beauty tool, but if you haven't tried it yet, get ready, because it's going to change your life. In this post, we'll tell you everything you need to know about Gua Sha and how to get the most out of this incredible beauty enhancer.

What is Gua Sha?
Gua Sha is an ancient shaping tool used for millennia in Traditional Chinese Medicine. Initially, Gua Sha was used for body treatments, but given its benefits, it was quickly adapted for the face, for a facial massage that is as gentle as it is energizing, equivalent to a natural facelift . With the help of this tool and the right technique (super simple, let's go!), you will promote your well-being, activate blood circulation, and remove unwanted toxins from your body in a delightful massage that is a true testament to self-love!
What does Gua Sha do?
It's incredible how such a small and simple tool can have such a visible and profound effect, acting on the surface of the skin, but also on the organs of our body. The word "Sha" means the healthy flush that appears when the skin "awakens," heals, and regenerates through the action of Gua Sha. Let's see how it works?
Used with an oil (like our wonderful Sculpt ) that facilitates Gua Sha movements while nourishing the skin, Gua Sha will sculpt and tone the facial skin, allowing inflammation to drain and muscles to release tension. It also helps to leave the skin firmer and more radiant, stimulating collagen production and activating circulation so that nutrients can reach all parts of the face, without exception.
This is what happens on the surface, but there is much happening beneath the skin. Just like in acupuncture, the gentle pressure of Gua Sha will activate the meridian lines, bringing benefits to organs such as the stomach, liver, spleen, heart, and kidneys.
By massaging the face, we are simultaneously sending messages to different parts of the body through the meridians, helping them to release toxins and function better!
Therefore, it's easy to understand why Gua Sha has been gaining more and more enthusiasts around the world, creating a wave of natural and non-invasive beauty that glides over the skin!
Benefits of Gua Sha
There are many, and all together they create that wonderful lifting effect we seek, leaving the skin rested, toned, radiant, and healthy! Some key advantages of Gua Sha:
- It stimulates circulation and activates blood oxygenation, transporting nutrients to various tissues.
- It drains lymphatic fluid (and with it toxins) and fights inflammation, reducing puffiness and swelling around the eyes and dark circles.
- It stimulates collagen production, which helps to significantly reduce wrinkles and treat and prevent sagging skin (lifts and tightens the skin).
- Promotes an even skin tone: helping the skin eliminate dark spots and hyperpigmentation and speeding up the healing time of pimples.
- Brightens the skin
- Helping to relieve rosacea.
- Helps skincare products penetrate the skin.

How to use Gua Sha
One of the wonders of Gua Sha is that it's a technique we can easily do at home, in a very simple way, with incredible results (and visible right after the first massage). Remember: consistency is super important , so after choosing your Gua Sha, repeat the ritual every day.
A good guideline is to perform your Gua Sha massage every morning for five minutes. First, apply a facial oil or serum , and then gently glide the stone across your neck, "sweeping" the skin from the bottom up, towards your hairline, focusing on your cheekbones and jawline. Always massage from the center of your face towards your hairline, using upward movements, passing along the lines around your lips, cheeks and cheekbones, the contour of your eyes, the area around and between your eyebrows, and your forehead. These movements should be slow and intentional, but without overdoing it. This will help drain fluids and promote circulation. The keyword is gently – you don't need to apply much pressure to reap the benefits. You can start on the left side of your face, connected to your more feminine and receptive side, gliding the Gua Sha from the bottom up and from the center outwards, and then move to the right side, which will be more receptive.
A Gua Sha for every skin type
No two Gua Sha tools are exactly alike ; each has its own specific angles and contours to adapt to different parts of the face and create a memorable massage. The oldest Gua Sha tools were made of bone, and later of stones and crystals, in immense shapes and sizes. Nowadays, the best Gua Sha tools are made of crystals, as beautiful to see and touch as the sensation they create when passed over the skin.
The stone it's made of has a huge influence on the effect of Gua Sha! Amethyst Gua Sha , for example, is perfect for more mature skin: in addition to its calming effect, this crystal is known for its anti-aging properties. To enhance the youth and freshness of the skin, the ideal choice is Rose Quartz Gua Sha , which will help you nurture your more loving side, as it activates self-esteem. Jade Gua Sha , an oriental symbol of protection and serenity, is indicated to support detoxification and skin regeneration. And if your skin is more sensitive, or prone to acne or rosacea, then White Quartz Gua Sha , which channels a gentle, purifying and protective energy, is the ideal choice. We recommend using Gua Sha with a sculpting oil like Sculpt, or one of our serums, and that's why we've prepared the Rose Quartz Gua Sha Kit (with the energizing Pure Sun Serum) and the Jade Gua Sha Kit (with the Detox Serum).

What does Gua Sha feel like?
A deep and pleasurable relaxation , to the point where we can't believe our face could be so tense! The right pressure – neither too much nor too little – is fundamental to obtaining the greatest benefits. The movements should be gentle, but not loose. They should be intentional, as if you were applying Gua Sha to the smooth, soft skin of a baby.
When the massage is done correctly, in addition to a super pleasant relaxation, you may feel the subcutaneous fluids moving, which is a great sign! What you will definitely feel is your skin awakening, coming back to life, as if it were waking up again .
When should you avoid Gua Sha? 🏽
If used correctly (i.e., gently), Gua Sha has no undesirable side effects because it is a non-invasive technique. However, it is not recommended for irritated skin, sunburn, or coagulation problems. It is natural that, after the Gua Sha session, some areas of your skin may become more red, but this is due to the gentle pressure of the tool.
How often should I use Gua Sha?
Once a week is good, but every day is wonderful! After you become familiar with the technique and choose the right Gua Sha for you, you'll realize it's truly amazing, and you'll want to incorporate it into your daily routine, every day, naturally!
