With summer approaching, so do the long-awaited days at the beach and pool! And with those days comes the need to wear swimsuits and bikinis, which, without these tips, can be problematic.
The truth is, for those who suffer (as I used to) from a tendency to develop ingrown hairs, this time of year can become more complicated because we have to shave more frequently and also sweat more. But don't worry, because with this post you'll be prepared to achieve the smooth, inflammation-free skin you've always wanted.

Never shave on dry skin. It won't work well, and you'll end up with ingrown hairs and even cuts because the blade won't glide effectively and safely. So even if you're in a hurry, resist the temptation and take your time.

Make sure your skin (and hair) are prepared. Before grabbing your reusable razor (if you're still using disposable ones, this post is for you ), take a few minutes in the shower or bath. The hot water will help soften the hair, and that will make all the difference when shaving. And what are 2 or 3 minutes to avoid the discomfort of days with itchy, inflamed skin?

Exfoliate every week. This ritual will completely change how your skin reacts to hair removal. Your pores will also be cleaner, thus preventing imperfections. I recommend the Stimulating product to improve your skin and remove all dead skin cells.

ALWAYS use a depilatory oil. This tip is the most precious of all and the reason why, dissatisfied with what was available on the market, I created SUAVE oil . Besides helping the blade glide smoothly, preventing cuts and greatly facilitating the process, the ingredients were hand-picked to soothe and hydrate the skin simultaneously. If you want to understand this tip in more depth, read here .

Use a very sharp blade. Change your blade refill frequently to avoid going over the same spot multiple times. A sharp blade will allow for more effective shaving and prevent skin irritation.

-
Shave in the direction of hair growth. Contrary to what you might think, this is the correct direction to avoid irritating the skin and causing ingrown hairs. By shaving in the opposite direction, you will be cutting the hair too short, increasing the chance of it becoming stuck when it starts to grow back.
-
The less, the better! The more times you run the razor over the same spot, the greater the chance of causing skin irritation. That's why tip #4 is so important.
-
Clean the blade between strokes. Always rinse the blade after each use on your skin. A clean blade is more effective! If you need tips to keep yours in top condition, read this post .

Be careful with the towel. After shaving, it's important to dry yourself gently. Don't rub with too much pressure.

-
MOISTURIZE. MOISTURIZE. MOISTURIZE. After showering it's always good to nourish your skin, but after shaving it's essential! To reinforce anti-inflammatory care and soothe your skin, you can use your SUAVE moisturizer again after showering. Or try the LEVE moisturizer – super rich and nourishing, with ingredients that also soothe the skin.

Avoid clothes that are too tight. After shaving, avoid wearing clothes that cause a lot of friction, and you'll also be preventing ingrown hairs and inflammation. If possible, do the hair removal at night, so you can wear comfortable pajamas and the next day you'll have a perfect bikini line.
