Detox: Start with Your Detox
START THE DETOX IN YOUR HOME
We talk a lot about detox around here, but we often forget that our surroundings also affect us, and that in these changes of season it's always a good idea to "detox our home" in order to achieve balance and harmony between us and our spaces, as these are the places where we spend most of our time.
When we think about eliminating toxins, we shouldn't just focus on our bodies. Everything around us affects the way we feel. And if there's one place that has an influence on us, it's our home. A our home is where our heart and soul are. So learn to detox your home and feel free of toxins too, because one thing leads to another! If we feel good in the place where we live, everything around us will change too - the way we cook, the way we interact with those around us, the way we appreciate the most "ordinary and banal" moments of everyday life (which are, after all, the most beautiful), like a good sunset from the bedroom window.
There are many ways to cleanse toxins from your home environment, but you should do it calmly, without rushing. This is not supposed to be a stressful process, quite the opposite. There has to be an intention attached to what you're doing, so that you achieve what you want more quickly and fluidly - without effort.

1. LET GO
Start by thinking about what you can throw away. How many times have you looked at things you have at home and thought, "I'll give this away?" But then you regret it and keep it again. Try to let go of what you no longer need. Remember, less is more. When I do this, it seems that my house gets more light, that I breathe better, even the energy of the whole environment (children, work, rest, creativity) becomes exponentially more positive!
2. ORGANIZE
Organize your space. Tidy up your drawers. Put your shelves in order. A cluttered space doesn't allow energy to flow and it's hard to feel good and calm in a disorganized home. If there are broken objects in your home, try to fix them. For me, this is a super therapeutic process. What's more, broken or damaged things accumulate negative energy in the house. Who doesn't have a drawer full of things we think we'll need one day, but years have passed and you don't even know what's in it? Start with those! And the question of broken plates, or chipped cups... you can't imagine how light you'll feel after recycling them - apart from being potentially dangerous, it creates space for new pieces that have more to do with your current state of mind to go in!
3. OPEN THE WINDOWS
Yes... even if it's cold! It's very important to let the air circulate so that it renews itself in the rooms. As much as this distresses my father, every time he comes to my house he gets scared because I have the windows open, "Oh, the children are going to get sick" and proceeds to close as many as he can find. The truth is that all year round I leave the windows open (even if they're just cracks) all over the house. There's nothing more (re)energizing for the house and the mind than fresh air coming in and flowing from one part of the house to the other. I only close it at night. And the kids are used to it ;) You'll soon feel the house "cleansing" itself of its own energies!
4. PURIFY
This step is essential, even on a weekly basis (or when there's a heated argument or someone with a "bad vibe" has been in the house). Now told you several times how much I love the ancient method of smudging (smoking, in Portuguese). To smoke my house, I always use pau santo or white sage. Usually first thing in the morning or when I get home, to cleanse myself of any negative energies I might have brought with me from outside. It's a very simple ritual that really has a purifying effect on me. White Sage is especially effective for "cleansing" the energy in the house (and yours), perfect for use in heavier moments and for "deeper cleansings". Pau Santo can be used to cleanse negative energies and (re)balance them, so it's best used on a daily basis. Don't forget, always start with yourself, followed by the front door.

5. ASPIRATE
I'm neurotic on this point. I'm a "clean freak", which means I'm obsessed with cleaning (which is super complicated for me, if I didn't have 4 kids and wasn't one of those moms who lets you do everything - especially if it involves creativity!) And I really like being at home, so believe me, it turns inside out very quickly. The most important thing is not to get nervous ;) let the fun flow and clean up at the end! Since my days in London, I've used a Dyson, a vacuum cleaner with a HEPA (High Efficiency Particulate Air) filter. These filters are extremely effective and trap up to 99.9% of impurities, eliminating dust mites and bacteria. It's expensive, but it lasts a lifetime and is super efficient and effective. Avoid using a broom as much as possible. You run the risk of raising more dust than you clean.
6. WATER
Choose the water as the main source of cleansing and purification. Both for you and your home. Water is a fundamental element for renewing energies and getting rid of negative ones.
7. NATURE
Turn your home into a garden. Plants help purify the air and bring immense benefits, both to us and to our home. Believe me, they're one of the best natural filters for bad energy. I have plants, some of them trees, all over my house. There were times when I was told not to sleep with greens in the bedroom, but it was the best thing I ever did! It helps me calm down and sleep better.
8. SCENT
Use and abuse essential oils. You'll find that they're great allies in eliminating bad energy. Personally, I really like orange essential oil. The scent takes me to the countryside on a warm summer's afternoon. It calms me down and lifts my mood. Experiment with different scents until you understand which is best for you. For the kids, I made a lavender and water spray that I spray on their pillows before bed and on their faces too (always with their eyes closed). It helps them relax and sleep better (they can't do without it!).
How do you detoxify your insides?
Once you've understood what you can do in your home to rid it of toxins, adopt a few routines that will help you detox internally.
When I talk about a detox plan, I don't just mean extreme fasting. There are certain organs in our body that are responsible for this detoxification - the skin, the intestines, the kidneys and, above all, the liver. However, there are some things we can do to ensure that these organs function better. We are what we eat, what we drink. And believe me, this is not a cliché.
Take note of a few things you can do to help your body live (and detoxify) better:
-
When you wake up, after dedicating a few minutes to your morning stretches and meditations, drink a glass of room temperature water with Deto dropsx. Helps to activate digestion as soon as you wake up and to cleanse the body by eliminating accumulated toxins.
-
Choose foods with fiber. Ensuring a healthy intestinal flora is very important for a toxin-free body. A fiber is present in foods of plant origin, such as fruits, vegetables, legumes, whole grains, and can be classified into two types - soluble and non-soluble fibers, depending on their ability to dissolve in water. As with everything, I recommend weighing, counting and measuring. Don't overdo your fiber intake, as you run the risk of it becoming harmful. In addition, it contains Silicium - essential as it helps collagen to regenerate and reproduce. So your skin will feel more elastic and firmer and your nails and hair will be stronger! Drink at least 2 liters of water a day.
-
Don't forget your protein. It's very important to remember that protein is directly related to some of our body's main vital functions. As I've already written in this article, protein is an essential macronutrient for our bodies and, although it is automatically associated with foods such as meat, fish or eggs, there are countless sources of protein. As we don't always have as much time as we'd like to prepare our meals, and because it's always convenient to have a mixture rich in various nutrients on hand, I've created a few protein mixes.
-
Eat your greens! If you've been following me for a while, you'll know that I'm a huge advocate of GREENS. A regular daily intake of greens is one of the main tricks for taking care of your body from the inside out. As well as providing lots of nutrients and antioxidants, they boost our liver's detoxification enzymes. A Super Feminine is a great ally for our daily intake of greens.
